Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Ask Poppy mobile application (the “App”) handles your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

In short: Ask Poppy does not sell your data or use it for advertising. Your conversations and the documents you create are stored on your device, and your requests are sent to our AI provider only to generate responses for you.

Information we process

Your requests and content. The text you type, and the itineraries, plans, reports, and checklists Ask Poppy builds with you.
Voice input (optional). If you use the microphone to speak a request, your speech is converted to text so the App can act on it. Speech recognition is performed using Apple’s speech-recognition technology; see “Apple” below.
Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription. Purchases are handled by Apple; we do not receive your payment card details.

Ask Poppy does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or contact list to use the App.

How your information is used

To generate responses and build the documents you request.
To let you search the web from within a request, when relevant, so responses can be grounded with links to sources.
To open directions in your chosen maps app when you tap a location.
To provide and maintain your subscription.

Where your data is stored

Your conversations and the documents you create are stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage. They are not stored on our servers. If you delete the App, this local data is removed with it. If you use iCloud device backups, your device data may be included in those backups under Apple’s terms.

To operate the service, our proxy server keeps a small amount of information that is not your conversations: an anonymous identifier for your installation of the App (used to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of Ask Poppy on genuine Apple hardware), a count of how many requests that installation has made and what they cost us to process, and — if you subscribe — the identifier Apple assigns to your subscription along with which installations have used it. This is what enforces the usage allowance described in the Terms and keeps one subscription from being shared without limit. It is not linked to your name, email address, or Apple Account, and your conversations cannot be read from it.

Third-party services

To provide the App’s features, limited information is shared with the following providers, only as needed:

Anthropic (AI processing). The requests you submit are transmitted to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate responses. When you use web search, related queries are processed to return results. Your requests are routed through our own secure proxy server, which forwards them to Anthropic and returns the response; the proxy does not retain your conversations. Anthropic processes this data under its own terms and does not use API inputs or outputs to train its models.
Apple. Apple provides speech recognition for voice input, and processes all purchases and subscriptions. Apple’s handling of this data is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Maps. When you request directions, the App opens your chosen maps app (Apple Maps or Google Maps) with the destination. That app then operates under its own privacy policy.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We do not use your data for advertising or build advertising profiles.
We do not use your conversations to train AI models.

Data retention

Because your conversations and documents live on your device, you control retention — delete individual items in the App, or remove all local data by deleting the App. Requests transmitted to our AI provider are processed to generate a response and are subject to that provider’s retention policies.

Children’s privacy

Ask Poppy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

You can decline microphone access and simply type your requests.
You can delete any conversation or document within the App.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
